Our Story
From ICU Hospitalization to Innovation Optimization
Empower Health Strategies’ story began over a decade ago in Georgetown University Hospital’s ICU where I was diagnosed with severe ulcerative colitis, a form of the autoimmune disease Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). This moment kicked off my unexpected journey as a chronic illness patient, full-time navigator of the medical world, and patient advocate on a mission to improve the health journeys of patients like me.
Coping with additional diagnoses, learning how to advocate for myself, and witnessing the gaps in support in our healthcare system steered my professional path into the healthcare sector where I’ve worked in primary care, hospitals, patient advocacy, and the digital health space. These personal and professional experiences opened my eyes to the transformative potential of merging the illuminating power of the patient perspective with the innovative accessibility of digital health solutions to enhance patient care.
